| I was curious to know if somebody at TACET would like this web site: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I am just an amateur audiophile, but I really enjoy your recordings.... http://musiqueenmulticanaux.com/ By the way is your new DVD-A of Schubert Octet available in North America? Thanks and keep producing your fantastic recordings! Here is the response thank you for your email and for your good review. DVD-A Schubert Octet is available, item number D133. It just was awarded the German Surround Sound Award of the Tonmeisters Association. Please ask at Adagio (link on your website) or at AudioAdvancements.com. If not on stock they can order. Otherwise you can order directly from us using our webshop but this may be more expensive (US$ - EUR, shipment). In total we have 15 DVD-As available. If you need more than the above disc I could give you a "review bonus". Please look for all of them under http://www.tacet.de Best regards Andreas Spreer TACET GmbH Wow I got an answer from Adreas Spreer TACET Tonmeister! I am not worthy! By the way I was not doing this to get a discount, these recordings are worth their weigth in gold...... but they are hard to find.... Here is my reply Wow I got an e-mail from the "God of Multi-channels recording"!!!! ? Thanks for your time. I will contact adagioplus. Yes I have already many of your fantastic DVD-As, For example, your peter and the wolf/carnival of the animals proves that your surround recording techniques applies to larger ensemble. Awesome...... I hope more and more audiophiles get aware of your excellent recordings. And another response (even better!) that is a bit too much of praise. Anyway thank you. There are clever ideas on your website regarding DVD-A versus SACD. You hit exactly the top of the nail: SACD has been from the beginning more for Stereo and less for Surround Sound. Anything against if we put a link to your site in our February news section? All the best Andreas Spreer --------------------------------------------------------------------- Of course I told Mr. Spreer I would be honored if they link my web site. Well I have no choice I will add a review of the Peter and Wolf/Carnival of the Animal recoding, and I need to get my hand to D133 and review it...... This website is turning into a TACET love-fest! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ After I got my copy of D133 (and yes it sounds as good as what I was expecting) I wrote back to Mr. Spreer: --------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is your friend Jean-Marc at http://musiqueenmulticanaux.com/ Thanks for putting a link to my web site in your news section. I have added a full review of Your Peter and Wolf, Carnival of the Animal recording. And I got D133 so I also added a review of it! Now if you have the time, I have one question..... I was curious to compare D115 (Beethove Octet winds, Septed) to D133. They are both beautiful recordings, but they sound a little bit different. D133 feel more spacious 'bigger' and with a little bit more a the lower frequency. But D115 had a more live feel. So my question is did you record D133 at a different location than D115? If they were both recorded at the same place did you change something about the way you recorded the ensemble? (I know you cannot tell me you trade secrets!) Thanks for your time and all your GREAT recordings..... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And here is the response, the is just fantastic to be able to get an answer directly from the person responsible for such great recordings.... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Jean-Marc, thank you for your reviews! They are so good that it is even a bit embarassing for me to read them... But I am happy, thank you again. One of the problems with multi-channel is that the professional critics often neither have the equipment to listen to multi-channel nor the interest (courage?) to really deal with what is going on in that area. Some of them love multi-channel and want to write more but only have a couple of lines available. There are very good and encouraging reviews from professionals but most of them are short or more in general and not in detail like yours. During the past time the lack of reviews seems to be filled more and more by private people which are interested in multi-channel and give recommendations to other private people. You are one of them and that's why you could be helpful for us. If you don't mind - we'll quote your reviews in our review section (not completely, together with links to your website). Re: the sound difference between Beethoven septet and Schubert octet. Both were recorded in the same church. Each composition needs its own "sound". As you point out in your Schubert review 8 musicians sound like an orchestra. This is exactly what Schubert intended with the famous words: "... I hope in this way to pave the path to a great symphony." Maybe it is for this. All the best Andreas Spreer |
